ON BOARD MARHABA CATAMARAN

REDUCED GROUP 10 PASSENGERS

ONBOARD SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES

Plankton

>>> We will take samples to observe and identify these small animals and vegetables in the magnifying glass, their measurements range from a few microns to more than 10 cm.

Micro-Meso-Macroplastics

>>> We will learn what are their main sources and how are generated in the marine environment, what are the possible physical and chemical effects on marine organisms and humans. We will identify types of microplastics, we have a plankton net with which we will observe them in situ.

Marine Mammals Monitoring

>> We will identify the different marine mammals that we will observe, study and note the most important aspects in terms of activity patterns, behavior , age classes and group structure. We will record the acoustic activity of the group sighted with an hydrophone on board.

Sediment-Water Interface

>>> We will carry out an apnea diving at 8-12 m depth to characterize the nature and magnitude of contamination by plastics in the interface.

Nutrients in depth

>>> You will know the on-board methodology to determine nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, silicate and ammonium in the water column at different depths, we have a niskin bottle that will allow us to take samples.

IT INCLUDES

>>Documentation on board >>Continuous data collection (position, environmental, technical and oceanographic) >>Software and equipment explanations >>Navigation concepts >>Lectures >>Sailing time >>Food & drinks >>Swimming time & snorkeling with all equipment on board
